St James Parish is situated on the traditional unceded territories of three Coast Salish Nations:  

       Squamish Peoples —Skwxwú7mesh, — ‘Mother of the Wind’

       Musqueam Peoples — Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm — ‘People of the River Grass’

      Tsleil-Waututh Peoples — Səlilwətaɬ — ‘People of the Inlet’

These Peoples have lived on and cared for land and sea here from time immemorial.
