Confession / Reconciliation

If we’re honest with ourselves, we don’t always get things right.  Sometimes we are not our “best selves”.  At times our choices and actions are based on perceived self-interest rather than what is right and good.  At times, through selfishness or lack of honesty, our words and deeds hurt others and damage ourselves.

This is the meaning of the word “sin”.  Note: Although this word is often misused, “sin” is not about judgement and blame, or about shaming others.  It simply identifies ways that are contrary to God’s life-giving law.

All Christians sin.  Yet we can act to set things right, by admitting to God and to ourselves, that we have made selfish, dishonest, or harmful choices.  We can do this in a number of different ways.  On our own, through a personal prayer of confession and repentance.  With the gathered faith community, through the general confession at Mass.  Or in speaking with another Christian, both in the Sacrament of Confession or Reconciliation.

God desires the best for all of us.  God is ready to forgive those who approach him sincerely.  God can forgive even “big” sins which otherwise overwhelm us.

You are welcome to make an appointment for Confession/Reconcliation (see “Contact Us”).
